Camera crews swarmed an upper Minor Street Monday morning to begin filming an upcoming Castle Rock Entertainment Production starring Jessica Biel.

Castle Rock Entertainment announced in September it had approved the production of “Shock and Awe,” a romantic comedy set in Kenner, LA, starring Jones, who also is co-producing.

The crew of about 100 filmed scenes during its first week in production at the downtown complex near Rivertown Theatre for Performing Arts on Minor Street.

The production schedule was delayed for about a week, according to Rob Reiner, director of the movie. Other film sites the crew discussed with city staff include Wragg Square, The Mills House and the Gaillard Center, but permits haven’t been issued yet since the delay put things “in flux,” Reiner said.

The movie is about “a group of journalists covering George Bush’s planned invasion of Iraq in 2003 are skeptical of the presidents claim that Saddam Hussein has ‘weapons of mass destruction.”

Biel plays Lisa, described as “a rebellious reporter whose pursuit of justice will stop her at nothing” The film’s co-star, James Marsden, starred in X-men.

Castle Rock Productions said this is its first large production in Kenner, LA.

The Louisiana Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism’s Film Commission said last month Castle Rock Productions has opened an office in Kenner to prepare for the project.

The production expects to be working in the Kenner for about a month and a half, he said.
